BOCA RATON — Senior defensive end Josh Pinnick will miss the rest of this season after suffering a knee injury during FAU's victory against North Texas on Saturday. Coach Howard Schnellenberger had been waiting to receive word from team trainers on the extent of the injury to Pinnick, a pre-season All-Sun Belt selection who is on the watch list for the Lombardi Award.

Pinnick has a torn meniscus in his right knee which will require surgery, Schnellenberger said.

Although Pinnick could appeal to the NCAA for a sixth-year of eligibility, the injury likely will bring his college career to an end. The odds are slim he would have a year of eligibility restored because Pinnick, a fifth-year senior, used 2003, his first year at FAU, as a redshirt season.

Schnellenberger said junior defensive tackle Josh Savidge, who also was injured Saturday had surgery on his left knee and won't play again this season.
